Sleep Apnea follow up

Its been a long road back, but worth every step. Its been almost 2 years since I wrote Sleep Apnea One Mans Battle to Stay Awake, and I have to say it has not been easy, But when has anything worth while been easy? My family is worth every pain, every frustrating step of the way.

The medical help I have had, has been traditional and very untraditional. I must say that the decisions I have made have come from both. The traditional medical practitioners have helped with the sleep test, a real eye opener, and the C PAP machine. The decision that I would use the machine every night was for me not that hard. After waking up in the morning feeling like a new person, rested and ready for a new day keeping the air pillow as it is called on my face at night was not that hard. Keeping the machine clean and properly set is not bothersome at all.

All of the additional medical testing each 6 months has shown a real interesting result, as I have learned to use some untraditional medical and dietary methods that have made the test results really stand out. All of those numbers the doctors tell you about were upside down 2 years ago and have all mysteriously corrected themselves, primarily by the diet the wife and I have come up with. It has also helped her with her diabetes, which she has had for 55 plus years. My cholesterol is at the lowest it has been in years, my A1C is in the proper range, blood pressure is normal for a man my age. All of the statistics the doctors look at are back to where they should be and all without the medication with the bad side effects that the traditional medical practitioners prescribe. This has been the results of a good diet, limiting proportions, not grazing between meals, and limiting carbohydrates. Keeping to the principle of keeping my diet simple, and exercising.

I have lost 70 to 80 pounds and am going to loose another 20 or so to get under 200 lbs. I think this has been the most beneficial thing that has come out of all of this. Not only has the affects of sleep apnea subsided, the problems I had with my knees have disappeared. I can keep up with my wife while walking. I simply look better and people have said so to me. This has been the results of a good diet, limiting proportions, not grazing between meals, and limiting carbohydrates. Keeping to the principle of keeping my diet simple, and exercising.
